Grandmaster Ip Man (1893-1972) was the founder of the modern Wing Chun and was the last disciple of Grand master Chan Wah Shun, the successor of Dr. Leung Jan, who inherited the original Wing Chun from the Buddhist Shaolin nun Ng Mui. He was the most famous Kung Fu grandmaster of the 20th century. Grandmaster Ip Man was the teacher of the King of Kung Fu, Bruce Lee and the first person in the main lineage of Wing Chun to make this former secret style available to the public.
 
In memory of Grandmaster Ip Man many successful Ip Man and Wing Chun movies have been shot, so Ip Man Zero, Ip Man 1-4 in which all the students of his son Grandmaster Ip Man played the main roles, such as Donnie Yen.
 
Most styles of Wing Chun go back to Grandmaster Ip Man whether they are Wing Tsun, Wing Chun, Ving Tsun, Ving Chun, Wing Tjun or others.
