Wing Chun for women

 Wing Chun for women

It happens not seldom, that women approach us and wish a Tao Chan Wing Chun training for women only. Reasons are often, that they are afraid of being molested by male students or could practice or communicate better with women. Another reason is, that some women think that men only rely on muscular power. That’s maybe the case by common martial arts schools, because usually many schools of this kind in the West are only focused on muscular aspects and don’t develop the personality of the students.

However, for us such worries are not needed!

It makes little sense to lie to you here just to get you as a student! Anyone, who believes it is possible to learn self-defence in a few weeks against a muscular man is dreaming. Same as women, who are thinking they can defend against an attacker with a few secret techniques. Some even expect the attacker will fly away without touching him like in a movie.  With such courses certain teachers can earn a lot of money and women can calm their conscience, but what for?
In a real situation, a woman is not attacked by another woman, but by a man, who is often much stronger. With lessons with women only it is not possible to train for such goal.  It's similar to say like somebody, who can have a cat at home can also have a lion at home. Therefore, the Tao Chan Wing Chun is trained exclusively in mixed groups of men and women of all ages. The women are learning to become more aggressive and sparring skills from the male students and the male students can learn softness and relaxation from the women. So, everybody benefits. Now some women may say, that's all well and good, but what about the problem that some men maybe behave badly?
We can reply by saying that our codes of conduct, which are the largest of all Wing Chun schools worldwide, as well as our unique educational system, which is based on South Shaolin Monastery mercilessly sort out unsuitable students and all our male disciples behave properly. Those who ignore this will be dismissed from our schools, regardless of their seniority.

Grand Master Chi Sim wants to promote the number of women in Tao Chan Wing Chun, as Wing Chun was developed by a Buddhist nun and their first student was a woman and it is time to increase the percentage of women in Wing Chun in the master levels of Tao Chan Wing Chun.

Benefits of the Tao Chan Wing Chun for women are:

  • No need of big muscle power
  • Benefits for women in the higher levels of Tao Chan Wing Chun using relaxation and softness
  • Suitability of Tao Chan Wing Chun due to the structures oriented to the female body
  • Training with decent men and women
  • Slow approach to sparring even for weaker women
  • Perfect equality of women in the classroom
