Teaching system

Teaching system of Tao Chan Wing Chun

The basis of teaching as well as the Tao Chan Wing Chun is the family principle. This may be unusual for western students, who are used to individualism. The basis is Confucianism.

Therefore, you are not in a club or fitness centre, where there is a paid trainer in the front, who must teach the student, but you enter a traditional Kung Fu school, where the teacher is a Sifu ("parental master") and the classmates are older and younger Kung Fu brothers and sisters. Unlike many other schools, that only use these terms, but implement it only formally or not at all, the real approach to implement that in daily life is done by the Tao Chan Wing Chun Organization. This is done by respecting and caring for Sifu and fellow students, as well as helping the students among each other and not only in the lessons, but also in the private life.

This is complemented by the modern system of student levels, which allow continuous learning, success control and counteract the confusion of the traditional system in Hong Kong - even under Sifu Ip Chun. The traditional system was made for a small number of students, as they used to live with the teacher in China, but with 100 students or more per Sifu in the modern age, it is no longer meaningful to apply.

The combination of the two systems results in the Tao Chan Wing Chun family principle, which is rooted in tradition and grows in the modern age by the application the middle way, which is especially important in Buddhism.
